DATE NIGHT OUTFIT IDEAS
Updated: Jan 6
I love a date night! Whether it is a dinner date with my husband or a night out with my best friends, the excitement levels of dressing up for the occasion are super high. It gives me the opportunity to be uber glamourous and really have fun with accessories that don't often get worn. As a busy mum of three kids, I am usually in casual wear, apart from when I am working one-to-one with my personal styling clients.
Going out on a date night for many ladies can make them feel anxious about what to wear especially if you don't get the opportunity to go out that often. This may also make people feel the need to buy something new, but I believe you can create amazing outfits all shopped from your very own wardrobe.
If you have some classic items in your wardrobe such as a black dress, white shirt, and black trousers then you can certainly dress these pieces up in clever ways. You may simply just need to invest in a few accessories that can elevate these simple classics from your wardrobe. I know there is no one size fits all as we all have different style personalities, but I hope this blog will give you some inspiration to play around with items that you already own and create some easy-to-wear date night looks.
For the purpose of this blog, I am using some classic items from the high street in my outfit ideas. Please note some of these products have affiliate links whereby if you make a purchase I will receive a small commission from the sale. This is no extra cost to you. This small income helps me to continue to do what I love and bring you great quality content.
Dinner date
Dinner date outfits are all dependent on where you are going. A five-star restaurant will require you to look more polished and chic. My go-to piece for a dinner date is a dress as I find them stylish and super comfortable. Now, most of us will have a classic black dress in our wardrobe that we can easily dress up for a dinner date. Here are a few ideas below. You can simply add stylish details in the form of accessories that reflect your personal style. Whether you opt for dainty jewellery or bold eye-catching accessories it will certainly help elevate a simple dress.

A classic cami dress is a great dinner date dress. You can create so many other outfit ideas around this by layering over a jacket or jumper for a more casual vibe. This look is super chic for a special Valentines dinner or date to a nice restaurant

.first date
Now, this is one of the most nerve-wracking dates to go on as you want to make a good first impression. I think the key is to strike a good balance of something that is feminine and chic but also is comfortable to wear. This look also depends on your personal style and how you truly want to express yourself. Here are a few looks that I would suggest.

Off to the cinema
Now, dressing up may not be on many people's agenda when heading to the cinema. But you may be going on a date night with someone special and might just want to make a bit of an effort but we all know comfort is key here! I am thinking of cosy knits, jeans and cool pair of kicks.

girls night out
Nights out with my best friends are the best! Sometimes we are out in a bougie restaurant in London or a fancy cocktail bar. We like to go somewhere nice as these nights out don't come around often so, we always like to make it a night to remember. Again my go-to is usually a dress or a pair of classic chic leather trousers and a nice top.

Classic items such as a blazer and black trousers are great wardrobe staples to create multi-functioning outfits. Why not swap a pair of black trousers for faux leather ones. They add an edge to outfits and are super versatile to wear in so many different ways.
